Fitting wheels to a Gladiator
The pattern is the first of four checks, and the one people stop at. Here is the rest of it, in the order that matters.

Pattern — 5x127
5 studs on a 127 mm circle, sold as 5x5" in inch terms. This has to match exactly. A wheel one standard size out will start on two studs and then bind, which is how studs get stretched and cross-threaded.

Hub bore — 71.5 mm
The centre hole has to clear a 71.5 mm hub. Factory wheels match it exactly and let the hub carry the load. Aftermarket wheels are usually bored larger to fit several vehicles, and then need hub-centric rings — without them the studs carry the load and you get a vibration that no amount of balancing fixes.

Offset and width
Offset decides whether the tire clears the fender liner at full steering lock and the suspension at full compression. It is the check that catches people out after the pattern matches and the wheel bolts on happily in the driveway. Work out the change before you buy, not after the tires are mounted.

Load rating
Every wheel carries a maximum load stamped on the back. On a truck that tows or hauls this is not a formality — the rating has to cover your axle weight, and a passenger-car wheel in the right pattern is still the wrong wheel.
Torquing a Gladiator wheel
Target 130 lb-ft on M14 x 1.5 studs, reached in two or three passes rather than in one go — roughly half, then three quarters, then full. Order: 1, 3, 5, 2, 4 — skip one stud each time, which lands you on the classic five-point star. Use a torque wrench for the final pass; an impact gun cannot be trusted to a figure and over-torquing warps brake rotors as reliably as under-torquing loses wheels. Re-check after 50 to 100 miles — new wheels seat slightly as they bed in, and that is when a nut goes slack. Your owner's manual is the authority if it gives a different number than 130 lb-ft.
