The number on the door-jamb sticker is the maker's recommended cold pressure for the original tires at full load. Don't run below it.

Max sidewall = your ceiling

The "Max Press" stamped on the tire is the most you should ever run cold — it pairs with the tire's max load rating.

Check and set before driving or after 3+ hours parked, out of direct sun. Driving and heat raise pressure normally.

What tire pressure should I run for my load?

Set it to the load, not a single number. The load-inflation method scales pressure with weight: pressure ≈ the tire's max pressure × (the weight on that tire ÷ the tire's max load). Weigh each axle loaded the way you drive, divide by the tires on that axle, and inflate (cold) to the figure above — never below your door-placard pressure and never above the max stamped on the sidewall.

Should front and rear tire pressure be different?

On a loaded truck, usually yes. A loaded bed and a trailer's tongue weight pile onto the rear axle, so the rear tires carry more and need more pressure than the front. Weigh both axles and set each to its own number — that's why this tool splits them.

Where do I find my tire's max load and max pressure?

They're stamped on the tire sidewall — look for "Max Load 3195 LBS at 80 PSI Cold" (figures vary by tire). The door-jamb placard shows the manufacturer's recommended cold pressure for the original tires at max vehicle load; treat that as your minimum.

Cold or hot — when do I set tire pressure?

Always set it cold — before driving or at least three hours parked, and not in direct sun. Pressure rises about 1 psi for every 10°F as the tire heats up and with the weather, so a tire that reads 65 psi cold may show 70+ after a highway run. Don't bleed off that hot pressure; it's normal.

Do I need more pressure with bigger aftermarket tires?

Match load capacity, not pressure. A larger or higher-load-range tire carries the same weight at a lower pressure than the original, so copying the door-placard number can over-inflate it. Use the load-inflation method here with the new tire's own max load and pressure, and confirm against the tire maker's load/inflation table.
