How do I check if my truck has a recall?
Enter your make, model and year — or your 17-character VIN — above. The tool checks NHTSA, the U.S. safety regulator, for open recall campaigns on that vehicle and lists each defect, the safety risk and the free fix. Checking by VIN is the most precise because recalls can apply to specific build dates within a model year.
Are recall repairs really free?
Yes. By law, safety recalls are repaired free of charge at a franchised dealer for the vehicle's brand, regardless of who owns the truck or whether it's out of warranty. You don't pay for parts or labour. Call the dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number to book it.
What does a "Park Outside" or "Do Not Drive" recall mean?
These are NHTSA's most serious warnings. "Park Outside" means a fire risk exists even when the engine is off, so you should park away from buildings and other vehicles until it's fixed. "Do Not Drive" means the defect is dangerous enough that you should stop driving the truck until the repair is done. If your result shows either badge, contact the dealer immediately.

Why does the make/model/year search show recalls that might not apply to my exact truck?
A make/model/year search returns every recall campaign for that vehicle line and year, but some campaigns only cover trucks built in a certain date range or with certain options. Searching by VIN narrows it to your specific vehicle. When in doubt, give your VIN to the dealer to confirm which open recalls apply.
